If you come to my blog regularly, you’ve seen most or all of the things in this outfit before. Recently I’ve been trying really hard to only buy things I know are versatile and work with the rest of my closet. It’s harder than it sounds. Especially when you’ve almost always been a whim shopper. You know, a person that goes shopping and buys a skirt that doesn’t match anything in their closet, but maybe one day they’ll have the perfect top, jacket, and shoes to match. I used to do that a lot. Then I’d stand in front of my closet and stare into a sea of random clothing articles that don’t really go together. I found myself always having a “nothing to wear” moment even though I had more clothes than I needed. It’s because I didn’t take the things that were already in my closet into consideration when making a new purchase.
Then one day I found Kendi Everyday and her Working Closet Series, and my “nothing to wear” woes were cured. She shares the step by step process of having a working closet by getting rid of the things that don’t belong, and slowly adding new things that will make finding something to wear fast and easy. Now I have twice the amount of space in my closet and more outfit possibilities than I can imagine. I always keep this series in mind when I go shopping and it has saved me from buying some unnecessary items. It’s basically genius, and I hope it helps you as much as it did me.
